La película «Everything Everywhere All at Once» se alzó esta noche como la triunfadora de los Óscar al hacerse con siete estatuillas.

Brendan Fraser gana el Óscar al mejor actor
El actor ganó la estatuilla por su papel de un profesor de inglés con obesidad mórbida en la película «The Whale», de Darren Aronofsky. Brendan Fraser ha vencido así al otro favorito en esta categoría, Austin Butler por su interpretación en «Elvis», así como a Collin Farrell, («The Banshees of Inisherin»); Paul Mescal (Aftersun) y Bill Nighy (Living).
El actor, desaparecido de la industria desde hacía años tras haber protagonizado éxitos de acción en los noventa como «George of the Jungle» y «The Mummy», ha regresado por todo lo alto con este papel, el de un profesor de inglés con obesidad mórbida que trata de ganarse el favor de su hija en los días más agónicos de su vida.
Visiblemente emocionado y con la voz entrecortada, Fraser recogió este premio agradeciendo al director de la película, Darren Aronofsky, por haberle dado el papel de su vida y por embarcarle en este «barco con la ballena», en alusión al título de la película.
Recordó que comenzó su carrera hace treinta años y en aquel momento en el que tuvo muchas facilidades no supo agradecerlas. «Hasta que paró», lamentó.
«Gracias por este reconocimiento porque no podía haberlo hecho antes», dijo Fraser.
Brendan Fraser ha tenido en sus manos un personaje de los que gustan a Hollywood, por atormentado que busca la redención y porque requirió de una gran transformación física del actor. Se ponía una prótesis de 136 kilos para convertirse en Charlie.
